Background Walking through the gallery, the artwork of Ansel Easton Adams caught my eye; my favorite piece was his 1929 photograph of Tony Lujan. Adams was a master of the black and white print and it proved very difficult to duplicate such shading. Adams method of exposure and development divided the gradations of light in a scene into ten zones from black to white; this allowed him to visualize the different levels of gray in the final photograph with great accuracy.
