Bonnie Blair Bonnie Blair began in short-track speed skating, which has a whole pack of skaters racing around a track. When she was sixteen, she began Olympic style racing, in which only two skaters are on the track, racing against time rather than against one another. In 1982, Bonnie was advised to compete in Europe to sharpen her skills, but she had difficulty raising money for the trip. She turned around her career by winning the world sprint championship and gold medals in the Olympic 500- and 1,000-meter races in 1994. I think she is a person who is never really unhappy. Bonnie is a very friendly, determined and modest person. I enjoyed doing this report on her because she was very interesting and is a great role model for the whole world.
