Lots of different nationalities for lots of different reasons decided to venture to America. Most like Christopher Columbus who came to America in 1492 sponsored by Spain, was looking for a passage to Asia. Others were encouraged by Columbus' discoveries and hired themselves out, those were called conquistadors. Spain not only had the advantage of sponsoring the discovery but finding the part of America that would bring the most wealth. Their passion was for gold and
