Little Things Matter Something of little importance or value is exactly how women are viewed in the early twentieth century, which is when this play probably took place. Glaspell, the author of Trifles uses the character John Wright, a farmer, to express the views of this time period by using him to dominate his wife Mrs. Wright, formally known as Minnie Foster. …showed last 75 words of 1205 total…as she once had it. Because of the men's arrogance and inability to look at trifles, they never figure out who actually murdered Mr. Wright although the women do. The women cover up the murder because of the bond that they have with being housewives and the filling of loneliness. Much like the men in the play if you dismiss the little things or "trifles" you will miss out on the big picture of things.
