fact is founded on the relation of cause and effect. Hume also believes that reason is not enough for us to understand things. We also need experience to go along with reason. He brings up the example of Adam. He says that Adam did not know what to do with the water because he did not have any experiences with it. He means that cause and effect are not discoverable by reason but by experiences.
