William Lloyd Garrison played a pivotal role in the abolition of slavery during the 19th century. This was largely through the formation of his own newspaper the Liberator as well as the establishment of the American Anti-Slavery Society which both informed and persuaded the American public that slavery was morally wrong. At times he had overwhelming support however he should be admired for his steadfast determination for even when society at times disagreed with his views he never compromised and always remained faithful to his original plan. Garrison's participation in the plight for emancipation is central to American society and without his passionate, unwavering views it is very possible that slavery may have continued for many more years.
