Introduction If one looks at the UK Governments campaigns on energy efficiency and consumption over the past thirty years it could be argued that that these campaigns have been initiated due to 'knee jerk' reactions from political events of the day. There had been no pre-planning or thought given to 'what if' scenarios regarding energy efficiency or consumption.
It could also be argued that this is not the case with the current UK Government's stand

Conclusion Perhaps it should be the fuel rich who should be encouraged to produce the energy savings by introducing a luxury tax on energy use above that required to live an adequate standard of living. Why should future generations have to deal and pay with the problems of global warming because energy is cheap today, which helps the fuel rich for instance to heat his swimming pool.
