only was the necklace fake, but so was Matilda in the beginning. She then becomes real because she had to work for everything. A real transformation occurs with in her. She then understands how good she had it after she had to give it all up.
Surprise endings are very beneficial to stories. They keep the reader
on their toes. They also give great insight into the characters to help us understand them much better.
