Simon Girty Simon Girty was born in 1741, the second of four boys in the region surrounding Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. His father's alcoholism and inability to keep steady employment forced the family to move around a lot during his youth. By the time Girty was 15, his family was living in western Pennsylvania. …showed last 75 words of 372 total…and worked to keep the Indians fired up against the Americans. It is rumored the Girty fought with the Wyandots against St. Clair at St. Clair's Defeat. After the Battle of Fallen Timbers, Ohio Indians accepted that they would have to settle for peace with the Americans and Girty's influence began to wane. By this time his eyesight was failing him and he suffered from arthritis. He moved to Malden, Canada and 1818, he died there.
