Love and hate are the two great themes of literature. Though love and hate are opposites, in Shakespeare's "Othello" they are closely related to one another. In the play, the antagonist, Iago, due to his hatred of Othello destroys love between protagonist and his wife and eventually causes their deaths.

his actual motivation for killing the woman he loves. Hate, just like love, is blind. Othello, blind to 'honest' Iago's manipulation, acts out of jealousy and hatred when he kills innocent Desdemona.
Shakespeare, in "Othello", manages to portray both love and hate and their close relation to one another. The story of Othello teaches us a lesson that love can turn into hate and that hate and corruption can easily destroy love.
