If the officers explain themselves to the detainee clearly and carefully and show the individual some amount of respect, then maybe the public will learn to trust the police once again, it may help if the police do start keeping copies of their searches (like they are supposed to). But until a reasonable compromise can be agreed upon, one can only imagine that things are only going to get worse.
