Overpopulation
Overpopulation has been recognized as a problem since the late eighteenth century. In the nineteenth century, William Stanley Jevrons showed that the rate of increased energy consumption was exponential to population growth. In effect, energy consumption is an exponential rate of an exponential rate. Currently our major energy source is oil, which is a finite source. How much do we have left? No one knows.
