In William Shakespeare's Othello there is a wide array of themes. One of the themes, which is found true to nearly every character, is of the act of control throughout the play. Another theme portrayed through Iago, is the recurring use of words such as "monkey", "lion", etc. in "romantic" conversation.

does this he has the same reason, to get the character more angry and vengeful towards another one, and in each instance this happens. I think this theme is relevant today because it shows that jealousy is a strong factor in making one's own decision. As long as their is mankind, their will be jealousy for others to gain, and as long as their is jealousy, there will be an antagonist there to promote it.
