John Steinbeck uses several cases of foreshadowing in his novel, "Of Mice and Men". Lennie once again becomes confused, and his mind shuts down, leaving him capable of nothing, except holding tight. Foreshadowing is used in literature to hint to the reader of events yet to come, and in many cases, to create a relating link between two dissimilar events or objects.
