"King Solomon's Mines" is intended to be based around the epic journey of Allan Quatermain and his partners into the harsh conditions of stretching desert and steep mountains in search of adventure and riches. But it takes a double sided role by playing out most of the typical stereotypes of native Africans and the white man's supremacy. are the obvious "threat to white men" along with numerous other treacherous accounts. Our adventurers walk away without a scratch, wealthy from their newly discovered diamonds and as refined as ever. The closing scene is perhaps what sticks in the mind the most, however. As Quartermain and the group of white men go to leave, Umbopa thanks him for all their help and sets them on their journey back home, singing with his lovely voice.
