Callisto is the most heavily cratered object in the solar system. Craters almost cover every part of its surface. It is about 40 percent ice and 60 percent rock and iron. Some small craters have been mostly obliterated. It also may have a very weak magnetic field. Callisto has the oldest of any body yet observed in the solar system.
