Try and envision our society without a common language. This could be a moderately hard idea to grasp. a near impossible task and asking for assistance does little more than to further lower their self esteem. To truly seize the benefits feasible in one's existence it has to be accepted that literacy is the key. Society will continue to reward skilled individuals and disadvantage those who are not. Without literacy, all those wonderful things will be taken away from us. What remain are never-ending worries as a result of uncertainty and total confusion.
