The Articles of Confederation were written in 1776 and finally ratified in 1777, after independence from Great Britain had been declared and while the American Revolution was still in progress. The Constitution was able to provide a national defense, it allowed the government to raise funds thru taxation, and formed a strong state bond through the centralized government. Although perfect harmony will never be achieved in government, these were positive changes to help run a more efficient government.
