God's Gift to Women
In her song, "God's Gift to Women", Jewel takes an interesting and indirect approach in disparaging popular and chauvinistic views on women's role in heterosexuality. Instead of directly attacking these ideas, she takes a sarcastic route. Her whole song mocks men's beliefs towards women by speaking in the voice of a man's "perfect woman". In my analysis of Jewel's lyrics, I used two vectors of feminist theory; gender and sexuality.

in popular society, and is trying to educate these young women that they do not need a man in order to feel secure and fulfilled. Fortunately, being an attractive heterosexual woman myself, I am already aware of the disgusting portrait our male-dominated society has painted of me. I am also aware of what to look out for in a man's behavior and am aware of my sexual freedom and personal identity apart from my body.
