Some historians refer to Jeffersonian-republicanism as "Neo-Federalism" or "Jeffersonian Federalism". I believe that the doctrine meets the goals of national security in 1823 by letting European nations know that the United States isn't "up for grabs" and that it is being colonized and it is governed by a strong, though young, national government.
