The Dutch venture into Indonesia centered on gaining profit from goods. In order to have the prosperity needed to make a profit, the Dutch needed peace and order. of Aceh was a complete disaster for the Dutch. Thousands of men had been lost, and millions of dollars had been wasted. Countries now looked upon them as a barbaric people as well. It is a prime example of what will happen if person's rights are stripped away with no hope of recovering them. The Dutch never truly conquered the people, and after World War II, the Acehans had achieved independence despite a terrible cost.
