Carl August Sandburg was born on January 6, 1878. He was born to August and Clara Sandburg. His father was a hard workingman and loved his family very much. He wasn't the best father in the whole world though. He wasn't very affectionate and some would say he wasn't able to raise Carl Sandburg and his sister correctly. …showed last 75 words of 1497 total…in 1953 the city of Chicago made Carl Sandburg Day; and last but not least, he got paid thirty-six hundred dollars to have six of his poems put in PLAYBOY magazine. After all his years of working, writing, and speaking, Sandburg settled down with his family in North Carolina. He married Lillian Steichen. He also had three daughters: Margaret, Janet, and Helga. He lived out the rest of his life and died a pretty happy guy.
