For my choice of what kind of resource should be developed I would pick Biomass. We have been using this kind of energy long before the use of fossil fuels, in the past people used wood from the forest to build their homes and even to cook.

Year by year, the non-renewable resources such as oil and gas are running out letting behind not only scarcity problems, as we burn fossil fuels we pollute the planet. If we do not do anything to resolve this problem it will take not too much years to see the results of our indiscriminate use of natural resources.
