I also learned that it was around the time of the election of 1828 when we saw the beginnings of modern politics in that name-calling and mud-slinging became much more popular. Finally, I better learned some of the details of the Nullification Crisis and the Bank Wars. Therefore I am now much more knowledgeable about Andrew Jackson and his importance in American history.
