Firstly, The Bible focuses on devotion to God as a spiritual being while Eastern religions (such as Buddhism which is the subject of Siddhartha) devotion is focused on oneself. These differences are subtle influences on the difference of Western and Eastern psychology. However, that is a different topic so focus will not be put on that.
