The state of corruption in Russia today can be largely explained by the trends which already existed long ago and by the transitional stage which was accompanied, as happened in other countries in the same situation, by the growth of corruption. It is hard to gauge what will happen to Russia in the future as in 2008; President Putin will be resigned from his presidency position and structure of Russia's political system might change, be it for the better or for the worse.
