He personifies the sun, and argues that they do not in fact have the power to make the sun "stand still" (46), but that when combining their love they can make the sun, the greatest metaphor of life and vibrancy which even the enlightened ancient Greeks thought of as the most powerful entity in existence, "run" (46) just as their love metaphorically now runs passionately amuck for now and all eternity.
